Real life have kept us busy and we will probably try to clear it up before we make this a regular contribution again.

Sorry for that.

And for anyone who likes Vector Launch, I started a group on Facebook that you can join if you like.
We are both hosting games. Myself I will host the Swedish Master tournament in Warmachine. Martin will host his hit game Vector Launch. Be sure to stop by and play with him if you are there.

All of our energy have gone towards this and therefore the writing front of games have been very low. Myself I am very close to a first play test of Arcane Arena. I hope that it will happen the weekend after this one.
But I got held up by a Flames of War big-battle in the store that lasted for about 12 hours. Great fun...

But these two last weeks have been somewhat productive for me. While travelling I started writing down the rules for the latest project. I got stuck at how you attack an enemy. I know how it will work, but getting the right words didn't come easy. Well, we cant all be professionals. We can only do as good as we can. But I'm ready to playtest the game. I just need some players to test it with me. I'll try to ask around...

Johan is as always working on his card-game. He have come so far that he have started printing some of the cards so I guess the first test is closing in.Gamershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527543098293168368noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248512369954004011.post-22374869856007345792011-03-25T18:56:00.000+01:002011-03-25T18:56:58.029+01:00Weekly update (week 12)Yeah... this week we have done no actual work on our games, myself I had finals in school and Martin started taking his drivers license. So no time over for games.

/JohanGamershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527543098293168368noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248512369954004011.post-58699351935469433502011-03-19T14:51:00.000+01:002011-03-19T14:51:43.600+01:00Weekly Update (Week 11)Back again!

These last twoo weeks have been busy. Mainly by looking for a job (Want to hire me? Just kidding...) but also because I wanted to write an introduction scenario for the skirmish game me and a friend started at a few weeks ago. With my recent changes that is... Changes I did without asking him... hi hi hi... dont tell anyone... But why an introduction scenario? Well I figured that I need to introduce myself to it. The scenario I wrote is for a platoon of American riflemen to scout a table full of forests. The mission: Scout all four corners of the table. The opposition: mainly German riflemen, but the occational machinegun and foxhole to stumble upon. Now I just need some players to test it on...

Johan in the meantime is continuing the work on his current project. Hopefully he wont run out of ideas before he gets the 100 different cards he want for the first playtest. Will probably be quite fun to see how people react to it.

So, until next time, Have a nice day

Myself school have taken up most of my time. The writing of rules for Arcane Arena have begun. Their is still tokens and a game board together with some additional cards that needs to be done. I will try to work as much as possible on the game since I really want to see how it plays.

Martin is still working on his project.

That is all for this week.Gamershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527543098293168368noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248512369954004011.post-70436253869911502312011-03-06T11:42:00.000+01:002011-03-06T11:42:05.584+01:00Weekly Update (Week 9)Hello. I almost forgot about the update. Almost... but I didn't.

These last two weeks I've been looking into the WW2 skirmish game in 15mm that I and a friend started a while back. What I've been focusing on is making it simpler and I've come up with a key change. Instead of making it a 1vs1 game I'm thinking of making it a coop game where 2-3 players each control a squad against a gamemaster. I'm toying with the idea of the gamemaster rolling on a table before the game to see what resources he'll have. In secret ofcourse. So the players may know that if he rolls a 10, he gets a tank and that he gets 10 rolls on the table. So there might be no tanks, and there might be 10! Then add machineguns, snipers mortar-barrages and the like and you'll have to be careful when moving around the next corner.

Johan is still working on his card game. He's a bit busy in school, but the work is continuing.

If you have any comments or think that something sounds fun, please tell us! We'll listen to what you'll have to say and if you show some interest, then we are more inclined to work on that.

Until next week
/MartinGamershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527543098293168368noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248512369954004011.post-36496403182977513252011-02-26T20:37:00.000+01:002011-02-26T20:37:49.134+01:00Weekly update (week 8)Time again for a fast update.

The work for Arcane Arena have gone smoothly, and 45% finished before the first test. I have decided upon the size of the board, only the test will prove if the board is to large or to small.
Martin on the other hand have decided upon how he want his latest game to run, now it is only up to find out if it works that way in the real word.

That is all I have for now.
/JohanGamershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527543098293168368noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248512369954004011.post-69735077639527691092011-02-19T18:07:00.000+01:002011-02-19T18:07:07.517+01:00Weekly Update (Week 7)Hello again. Time for a quick update.

Johan have kept working on his card-miniature crossover game and is now calling it Arcane Arena. I really like that you will be able to combine spells to create a doomsday spell when playing. Just imagine combining a spell to create a pool of water on the table with a chill-spell. Instant ice! Just a couple of dozens of cards to be written so he can do a first test.

Myself? I havent done very much. But I am revisiting an old idea again. This time it is a modern miniature game (although I'm going to test it with pieces of paper). The idea is that one unit will be a company. One base with models will be a platoon. And the challenge in the game will not be to create the ultimate army of doom! No, I want the challenge to be that you should give the correct orders to your companies. I'm taking some inspiration from the game I witnessed that one of our readers are writing. He have a good idea, so I'll borrow some parts of it. Hope you dont mind...

Until next week.
But the work goes forward with my card/miniature game 35% done until the pre alfa testing begins.
Martin have been very busy with school lately and therefore the production on his side have bin put on ice.

This week is yet another slow one. Some slow work have bin done on my card/miniature game. I am working on how I want the mechanic to work.
So, until next time.
Neither of us are very good at remembering this but we try our best.

Well, I haven't had much time to think about new games but I still have some things to say. I brought Vector Launch to the store to play yesterday and tell people to come visit me on GothCon. I hope they will as that would really make my day. I also talked to one of the two new pilots about a game he wrote himself and I would really like to try it. It sounded just like the chaos and fun I was looking for in a squad based wargame. Hopefully he'll let me do that soon.

Johan have taken up his project about the miniature/cardgame duel again. He's still a long way from getting a varied game but is closing in on hopefully trying a small test soon. And by soon I mean probably in another month. We both have other things to do too...

Have fun
Sorry for the long wait for an update. First we went to Praag (recommended btw) and then there were finals week.

So, considering that I had to study for my exam I hope that you can forgive me for not working too much. We did get a game of Lords & Soldiers played between Johan and a player who hadn't played before. The superior morale of the Infantry line was almost ruined as Johan sneaked through the lines and attacked the general and one more character. In the end, Johan's all cavalry army couldnt break the infantry line and ran off the field themselves. After this game, we started a deiscussion about how to include magic in L&S. Johan came with plenty of suggestions (as he often does) and I ignored most of them (as I often does). In the end, it became my mechanic, his spells and a compromise between our points costs. Well, the most recent version of the document now includes magic (and two more skills for units). I just need to try it to make sure it works the way I want it to before I publish version 0,2.

Johan have been a much better student than me. Not getting distracted from his studying by small side-projects like this... Except that he's been exploring a few ideas both old and new. Last I've heard he was working on his card-game/miniature-game combo. He just need to get enough different cards made to make it testable.

That's it for this week. See you next.

Maybe because there is not much to say. We have not had time to do very much due to school and planning other real world activities. I did however have a small discussion with my partner for the WW2 skirmish game and yesterday he came up with a name. It is now called "Do or Die". The discussion was mainly about morale and injured models. Two areas that required extra work after the last playtest.

Not much but atleast it's something.

Until next week then, but dont expect an update in time because we will not be in the country by then.
This week we have both bin occupied by other activities so no real progress on our projects. Although I had a play test of Planetside with one of my good friends last weekend. Some work is still needed to be done to make the point system balanced, and that can only be archived by play testing different armies against each other. This Sunday we will have another check on the the game balance.

Until next week

This last week have been quite uneventful for both of us. We have done a little work on our current projects (WW2 skirmish game for me and Planetside for Johan) and are ready for our next set of playtesting. Unfortunately, real life have interfered this week and we have not been able to start it.

Oh well, what are you gonna do? Wait a while and try to get forward later I guess.

Have a nice day
The only thing I managed to do is work on army lists to Planetside and trying to break the point system. Hopefully I will have a play test this weekend with a friend.

Also Martin have had little work done, he have been sick. He have managed to rewrite the rules to his skirmish game to work with a d10. He is also working on getting all the different suggestions written down.

Until next week.
/JohanGamershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527543098293168368noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248512369954004011.post-54194677669462023062010-10-29T14:50:00.000+02:002010-10-29T14:50:42.633+02:00Weekly update (week 43)Friday again and another update.

Both me and Johan are playtesting. I'm playtesting a skirmish WW2 game. I got plenty of feedback from my fellow playtester Love which is very much appreciated. I started out using D6 in the game but with so many modifications on the rolls made the D6 too limited. So I'm working on rewriting the game to use D10 instead. After the game we made a rather long checklist of things to look at and that didnt work good enough, but as proof of concept it was a success. The game would have been ready for a second playtest by now if it was not for me being sick this last week. The next step would be to give the game a work-name. Any suggestions?

And Johan is recruiting fellow gamers at the club we've been going to for several years. They're a good sport and usually tries our wacky ideas. It will be interesting to see how they react to Johan's Planetside that have recieved a major rework since the last playtest. Especially in the points balance and calculations. It will be fun to see how it works out.

Have a nice day
So slow in fact that the only work I have done is the framework for the background to Paraverse, the world that both Starships and Planetside is played out in. I am going to do a new play test for Planetside with some people from the local gaming club.

Martin on the other hand have worked on a project with one of his friends, a skirmish game based on Battlefronts game Flames of War. They already had the first play test and got great response from other players. Some modifications had to be done on the game and already it´s only resemblance to the original is the miniatures used. Visit http://www.flamesofwar.com/ to know more about Flames of War.

Untill next time
/JohanGamershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527543098293168368noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248512369954004011.post-15022214621375283052010-10-15T12:49:00.001+02:002010-10-15T12:49:40.395+02:00Weekly update (week 41)Hi again, time for another update.

For me, this last week have been rather calm. Most of my free time have been focused on painting miniatures. But I've been thinking a bit about my old idea for a skirmish game. Mostly trying to decide between a fantasy or sci-fi setting. In the end, I think I have some ideas of how to make it work in both with the same set of rules, just different equipment. Also, I'm thinking of starting to write a document for my Assault game. I have some basic ideas of how it might work, and then it is off to another playtest.

Johan have revisited Battleships. Lets face it, in its current state it is not really the most playable game and is very limited in potential players who might enjoy the way it plays. So we had a discussion this week to figure out how to make it more playable. The best idea was to take one step backwards and to the side, returning to an older idea for the game, but with some modifications. Only time and a playtest will tell if the new ideas work as they are supposed to.

/MartinGamershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527543098293168368noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248512369954004011.post-90643447191702643902010-10-09T10:59:00.001+02:002010-10-09T11:02:53.125+02:00Weekly update (week 40)Well... once again I am late. This past week have been filled with school work for me. My mind totally blocked the website off. I also realized that I forgot to take pictures of Zombie Tea Party. Since Martin thinks that people don´t want to print 400+ cards, I have worked on different d100 tables that can be used instead but you still have to print out the item deck. Also I am working on the written rules, up until now the rules have been all in my head.

Martin have this week revisited one of his older ideas, a fantasy skirmish game. The party is supposed to be between 3 and 7 members and each member is detailed in the sense of equipment, skills and loyalty. I am helping him with it and we are at the moment working on getting the combat to work the way we want it to. Looking through different combat systems to see what we like.

Well until next week.
/JohanGamershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527543098293168368noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248512369954004011.post-19875507833458466642010-10-03T13:47:00.001+02:002010-10-03T13:52:33.615+02:00Vector Launch 1,3 Pre-ReleaseThe idea for Vector Launch came to me when I was looking at sci-fi shows that takes place in space. I had this idea of small fighters that fly through space backwards or making strafing runs at larger targets. I wanted guns to be the main weapon and missiles being secondary to make the game up close and personal.

The game is quick and easy. But takes some time getting used to do basic manouvres like turning in the beginning. But after a while the players will be able to do quite advanced manouvres. And dont be discouraged if you die. Because if you do, you just respawn the next turn and is sent out to hunt for revenge.

This is a Pre-Release. The rules are all there, but I dont have any examples. If you have any questions, you are free to contact me and I will add any questions to the real release later.
Time for that update about what we have been doing. Since the first playtest of Assault (the work-name for my SAS inspired game) I have made some quite dramatic changes. Also, such things as explosives and flashbangs turned out to be much more popular than expected, so I had to go over those one more time to get some good and easy rules for that. And I discussed with another gamer who also like Battlefronts Flames of War about writing a skirmish game for those spare models you always end up with. We had a good discussion about how to make such a game and I'll see if I can try some ideas soon. Additionally, I really want to make a post with Vector Launch, my dogfighting game with spaceships, so I'm preparing a pre-release the coming weekend. Keep an eye out. Even if it might not have any examples or illustrating pictures, it is still playable. If you feel like helping me with it, please read the rules and tell me where you'd like an example or illustrating picture.
Johan than, he brought his Zombie Teaparty for a first playtest with individual characters and special missions for everyone. It went quite well but I feel sorry for dr Ivan Sokolov. So far he is not the double-edged sword he will be later. Personally I enjoyed crushing zombies with my car. But in general, the objectives did their job well, they made the players spread out and hunt for their objectives and leave the rest of the group. And never being more than one turn away from being swamped by zombies made everyone try to find the best way to cooperate. All in all, a big success (even if all players survived in the end).
Oh, and by the way, me and Johan have a small bet about who will make the first comment on the blog.

Well, see you next week
